The Best of the Best Show on Television

Compiling a list of our top five favorite CSI episodes is both impossible and futile. There’s no accurate way to narrow down a ten-season-long list from a show that delivers week after week. CSI never fails to introduce new and unique crime scenes with fascinating forensic techniques, not to mention personal dramas that add to the suspense. But, for whatever it’s worth, we’ve made our best attempt to come up with our top five favorite episodes of the series.

1. Butterflied (Season 4): The careful and deliberate murder of a nurse and her boyfriend, whose dismembered body is found in the trash, creates quite a commotion in the CSI offices because of the unusual resemblance between the female victim and Sara. This episode also sparks a life evaluation by Grissom as he begins to question what all he is missing out on in life.
2. Play with Fire (Season 3 ): Though the case to be solved involves the murder of a woman who is found in a high school football stadium press box, the real focus of the episode is an explosion in the CSI lab. An injury of one of the characters and determining the cause of the incident becomes the priority.
3. Gum Drops (Season 6): When a family is found murdered, one of the members of the CSI team believes the youngest daughter is still alive and attempts to follow a trail of gum, which he believes she left to lead them to her.
4. A Bullet Runs Through it (Season 6): A vicious shootout leaves a police officer dead and it is discovered that the fatal shot was friendly fire. The case then turns toward determining who fired the shot, with a bit of a surprising discovery.
5. Lady Heather’s Box (Season 30): This 90-minute episode is one of the most drama-packed shows of the series. Multiple murders, a world of dark sexual fantasies and the ever complicated relationship between Grissom and Lady Heather definitely needs the extended time for all the suspense of this plot.
