We are glad that you decided to accept the challenge of becoming an EXPERT CSI Investigator! Here is what your CSI Team will investigate and be needed to solve the case:
Tasks:

You will need to know your
way around the cemetery. Find the boundaries
of the cemetery and locate the surrounding streets, communities, schools,
businesses, and geographic features.
You will measure and record information from headstones in a specific section of the cemetery following the lessons at USGS Learning Web :: Lesson Plans :: Map Adventures
Compare at least two headstones in a diagram using at least 4 facts, and 2 observations about each stone.
You will collect data about the cemetery using the assigned log sheets, your tools, and the power of observation.
You will analyze the condition of the headstones and cemetery using a rating scale. This information will be shared with the local historical society.
Using plant and animal identification books, you will identify plants and animals that make the cemetery their home. You will investigate the cemetery habitat for evidence of plant and animal existence.
Using your data collection forms, observations, and reference books, organize and analyze the data collected, assess the condition of the cemetery and cause of condition
Investigate the history of one of the people buried in the cemetery. Who were this person? What was their involvement in local history? What was happening during the era in which they lived or were buried?
Present your findings, as well as recommendation on how best to preserve the cemetery, on a web site or multi media presentation to other students, the media, historical societies, and the community.
